Inaugural 2026 Women’s Stowe 100 Mile and 24 Hour Maple Invitational Run
WELCOME
Welcome to the 2026 Women’s Invitational Stowe 100 mile and 24 hour Maple Run! We are delighted to host up to our permitted 50 runner event Friday June 12-Saturday June 13th.
The goal of the race director is to have a super supportive running event in her summer home town of Stowe Vermont along a beautiful recreation trail. While standard ultra fare/food/beverages will be served this also will highlight Stowe/Vermont food including cheese, maple, cider donuts, piecaso pizza….
RACE TIMING
The race has a 32 hour time limit. It will start at 5 a.m. Friday June 12th at the Stowe Farmers Market and will end at 1 p.m. on Saturday June 13th (with an award ceremony and pizza party immediately following the end of the race.
Packet pick up will be available on Thursday June 11th in the afternoon somewhere within 1 mile of the race headquarters if not at the headquarters.
Packet Pick up also will start race day at approximately 4 a.m. at the race start/finish line. With only 50 runners in both the 100 miler as well as the 24 hour, there is unlikely to be a line!
Additionally the 24 hour race will have two start times including one that starts at 1 p.m. on Friday to allow the 100 miler and second wave of the 24 hour race to finish at the same time!
ROUTE DESCRIPTION AND HIGHLIGHTS
This event will be run entirely on the Stowe Recreation Trail (rec trail), a paved 5.3 multi-use paved trail that parallels the West Branch river in Stowe Vermont. The race headquarters will be at the “Stowe Farmers Market” field which is approximately 1 mile from the northern terminus of the Rec Trail. The other turn around, during the day, will be at the village of Stowe.
Along the route there are many parks along the recreation trail for crew/pacer parking as well as water fountains and picnic tables. Additionally in many places runners can run along side the paved rec trail on the adjacent grass/dirt if that is your preferred surface.
AID STATIONS
The main headquarters aid station will be the start/finish line but there will be a secondary aid station at the Riverside Inn approximately one mile south of the start/finish line.
As noted before standard ultra fare/food/beverages will be served including chips, candy, hummus, guacamole, pretzels, potateos and sweet potatoes, soup. This race also will highlight Stowe/Vermont food including Cabot cheese, maple products including syrup (which is like gel only WAY BETTER!, Cold Hollow cider donuts, Piecaso pizza starting in the evening….
DAY/NIGHT COURSE
The course will have a “day course” that spans the ENTIRE 5.3 recreation trail, which includes several street crossings. The “night course” will be entirely contained on the recreation trail and will NOT have any street crossings. The course (recreation trail) is not lit so a headlamp/flashlight or other light is critical. Furthermore runners will be required to have a flashing red beacon/reflective gear overnight to ensure you can be seen by other users including bicyclists. See race course in image gallery below.
ALERT
This is an inaugural event. This means that there may be snafu’s. The race director has been an aid station captain for over 5 years for a race with over 350 runners. She has volunteered at over 50 marathons and ultras all over the country. And she worked at Disney World for 3 years when “EXCEPTIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE” was expected. And she has run over 50 ultramarathons that she ran more than 100 miles so her goal is to ensure all runners are set up for success and to have an amazing time. But as an inaugural event there may unexpected glitches.
INVITATIONAL WOMEN ONLY EVENT
This race is designed for women. There will *hopefully* be more bathrooms than needed. All women specific needs will be attended to and at the main aid station the RD’s pink RV will be set up as a lactation room and a room within the Riverside inn will be set aside for any nursing mothers.
INCLUSIVITY
This race will do it’s best to support ANY and ALL adaptive athletes as best we can given the constraints of the recreation trail. Those with any adaptive needs and those in the LGBTQ community will be encouraged and supported! We want to be a welcoming race for all!
PACERS/CREW
Pacers and crew are not only welcome but encouraged. We also hope your pacer crew might consider helping out at the aid station or before/after the race as
TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAMWORK!
There are plenty of cheering/support locations along the course with lots of parking lots along the recreation trail. And during the day there is lots to do in the Stowe area if you want to sightsee.
HOST HOTEL
While the Riverside Inn will serve as an aid station location (and a place for desperate runners who need to lie down for a bit in a communal room), the HOST HOTEL is Stowe Motel & SnowDrift. Rooms are available from $130 to $200+ for the race from Wednesday to Sunday. (www.stowemotel.com). Please call them directly and mention the race for the discounted rate!
POST RACE PARTY
Upon completion of the race (*LIKELY 1 p.m.) an awards ceremony will be held at the start finish line field. Piecaso Pizza will be served to all runners and volunteers, Stowe Police/EMS/Fire. We ask for a donation to the pizza party for others; however, in the spirit of Vermont this will be what you can afford. The following Information Sheet outlines a variety of the race logisitics and information about the course.
